South Wales Police Web Communications Manager, Michael Shears, and his team of 10 walked 26 miles from Merthyr Tydfil to Cardiff Bay along the beautiful Taff trail, raising money for the trust along the way.

Mike explained:

“We walked along the trail from Merthyr police station to Cardiff Bay and stopped overnight in Pontypridd.

I walked in memory of my mum Pam Shears who died from Parkinson’s disease. Also for my brother Jon who died at the age of 27 and my Godmother Peggy Hughes who died 3 years ago.

I wanted to raise some money in their memory but wanted to say where the money went and I can do this with the Trust.”
These are three people in my life who made me the person I am today. All three of them were great people who were my role models and who were great with young people and that is who the trust is trying to help.”

I posted live updates on twitter.com/walkingtheedge so people could keep up to date with our preparations and then live updates during the two day trek.”
